Three sculptures made out of piled-up sheets of paper have been constructed especially for this particular stone floor. The differing dynamics of the paper structures and the stone space is the contradiction that the artists adopts in order for an abstract thought to materialize into an sensitive experience. In doing so, he is working on a central subject of Italian art – to cross physical and mental space – a concept that has been the key subject since Fontana’s "Concetto Spaziale" and then with the exhibition "Arte Povera Im Spazio" where "the hole in the psyche " was reflected has an important role. While Caravaggio’s sculptures seem to expand their volumes into contextual space their inside appears emptied and the cut sheets form concentric circles which reflect the inner space into infinity."

"Gianni Caravaggio occupa lo spazio con un gesto minimo. Si tratta di tre sculture in carta formate da fogli di carta stratificati che riprendono la struttura base del pavimento" (e le venature delle pietre in quanto anche esse sono stratificazioni) muovendolo con la dinamica della risma. "Trasformare un pensiero astratto in un’esperienza sensoriale - questa l’intenzione dell’artista. Caravaggio riprende un tema centrale dell’arte italiana – quello dell’attraversamento tra spazio fisico e spazio concettuale, tematica che ha avuto un sempre un ruolo centrale, a cominciare dal concetto spaziale di Fontana e, più tardi, dall’arte povera in spazio, in cui fu anche tematizzato il "buco della psiche". Mentre le sculture si dilatano in volume nello spazio all’interno appaiono svuotate, ed i punti di intersezione danno via a dei cerchi concentrici che sembrano dilatare lo spazio all’infinito."

"Gianni Caravaggio besetzt den Raum nur in einer minimalen Geste. Drei Papierskulpturen, die aus aufeinandergeschichteten Papierbögen bestehen, nehmen die Grundstruktur des Steinbodens" und dessen Maserung "auf und führen die Bewegung in der Drehung des Stapels fort. Einen abstrakten Gedanken sensuell erfahrbar werden zu lassen - darum geht es dem Künstler. Außerdem greift er ein zentrales Thema italienischer Kunst auf - das der Verschränkung von physischem und geistigem Raum -, das seit Fontanas concetto spaziale und später der arte povera in spazio, bei der gleichsam das "Loch in der Psyche" thematisiert wurde, immer wieder eine wichtige Rolle spielt. Während Caravaggios Skulpturen sich in ihren Volumina im Raum ausdehnen, erscheinen sie im Inneren ausgehöhlt, und die Schnittstellen bilden konzentrische Kreise, die den hier definierten Raum ins Unendliche zu spiegeln scheinen."
